All the results of this project are publicly available under the Eclipse Public License (EPL) . This includes the project documentation and all the software developed in the project in both source and compiled form. It includes in particular the FW Profile definition and FW Profile validator Eclipse plug-ins.

Intallation Instructions for the Current Version of the FW Profile Tools

We no more offer the FW Profile tools as ZIP files. Use the Eclipse update site to install FW Profile tools:

  1. Make sure that the required software is installed.
  2. Run the Topcased
  3. Go to menu Help | Software Updates | Find and Install
  4. Select "Search for new features to install" and click "Next"
  5. Click "New Remote Site" button, enter FW Profile as a name and
    http://www.pnp-software.com/fwprofile/ as an URL.
  6. Make sure the checkbox next to "FW Profile" is checked. And click "Finish".
  7. Again make sure the checkbox next to "FW Profile" and click "Next". Note that in the current version of Topased (as of 20th August 2007) there is a dependency issue with org.openarchitectureware plug-in. This plug-in is not linked to FW Profile in any way but it corrupts the Topcased installation thus preventing users to install new features/plug-ins. You need to interrupt the FW Profile installation and disable the org.openarchitectureware before you will be able to install FW Profile. Go to Help | Software Updates | Manage Configuration and expand the tree on the left of the Product Configuration window that poped up. Find the org.openarchitectureware entry, right-click it and choose disable. Repeat steps 3, 6, and 7.
  8. Read the license agreement and click the radio button to accept it. Click "Next".
  9. Check that the installation directory doesn't contain space and click "Finish" button.
  10. Confirm the installation by clicking "Install All".
  11. When asked, agree to restart the Eclipse.

Intallation Instructions for Older Versions of FW Profile Tools
Download the current verion of both ch.ethz.fwprofile.uml2 and ch.ethz.fwprofile.validation plug-ins. Unzip the downloaded files to you Eclipse (or TOPCASED) home directory and restart the Eclipse (or TOPCASED). Do not forget to restart your Eclipse/TOPCASED (if runing). You can verify that both plug-ins are installed in About Eclipse Platform Plug-ins dialog which you can access via Help | Plug-in Details. The current version of both plug-ins is 2.0.0.

FW Profile version 2.0.1 for TOPCASED 0.11.0 or Eclipse UML2 2.x
This is the version that has been used for the ASSERT V2 Demonstrator. For the purpose of the demostrator and compatibility with tools of other ASSERT projets partners the name of FwTrigger stereotype has been changed to the older name (FwTriggerOperation) and name of FwNominal stereotype has been changed to the FwNominalOperation. These are the only changes with respect to version 2.0.0.

FW Profile version 2.0.0 for TOPCASED 0.11.0 or Eclipse UML2 2.x
The new version of the FW Profile has been released on February 5th 2007. The main changes are the support of choice and deep history states. Trigger operation parameters are now supported and can be used in transition actions. FwNominal stereotype has been introduced. The new version of the profile is referred to as 2.0.
