Real-Time Java AOCS Framework v1.0 API Specification

RtjAocsFramework.ObjectMonitoring
Interface PropertyMonitor

All Known Implementing Classes:
TestPropertyMonitor

public interface PropertyMonitor

This interface characterizes objects that monitors properties of other objects using the "property monitoring through change notification" design pattern. This interface defines a single method that is called by the monitored object when the monitored property has undergone a specified change.

Call-back actions in the framework should be performed using the event mechanism. Unfortunately, the "property monitoring through change notification" design pattern cannot be implemented using the standard event mechanism. This is the justification for the introduction of the PropertyMonitor interface which however should be used as little as possible. Whenever possible, alternative monitoring mechanisms should be used.
